A ciência vem realizando relevantes descobertas sobre a importância do intestino e sua relação com os demais sistemas do organismo, como o sistema nervoso, endócrino e imunológico. Estamos acostumados com a ideia de que o intestino é o local de digestão e absorção dos alimentos, mas, há várias décadas, os estudos vêm mostrando que sua mucosa aloja a maior coleção de células imunes do corpo e que estas estão em atividade contínua, intensa e silenciosa. A microbiota do intestino, quando bem equilibrada, produz substâncias com ação antibiótica, antifúngica e antiviral, incluindo enzimas que digerem as paredes de outros microrganismos. Por isso é importantíssimo manter o bom funcionamento do intestino, prevenindo doenças. Conhecimento é investimento contínuo e com o objetivo de aprimorá-lo, chegou a hora de não apenas compreender, mas integrar: sistema imunológico, sistema digestivo e mecanismos fisiopatológicos envolvidos em enfermidades como a Covid-19, por exemplo, para, assim, nos prepararmos melhor para o incrível desafio que é sobreviver no mesmo mundo em que os microrganismos.

Innovation and Transition in Law: Experiences and Theoretical Settings
This book features a discussion on the modernisation of law and legal change, focusing on the key concepts of innovation" and "transition". These concepts both appear to be relevant and poorly defined in contemporary legal science. A critical reflection on the heuristic value of these categories seems appropriate, particularly considering their dyadic value. While innovation is increasingly appearing in the present day as being the category in which one looks at the modernisation of law, the concept of transition also seems to be the privileged place of occurrence for such dynamics. This group of Italian and Brazilian scholars contributing to this volume intends to investigate such problems through an interdisciplinary prism. It includes points of view both internal to legal studies - such as the history of law, theory of law, constitutional law, private law and commercial law - and external, such as political philosophy and history of justice and political institutions.
Prognosis of Epilepsies
The last book on the prognosis of epilepsies was written by Rodin in 1968. For the next 35 years, many original papers or chapters in textbooks were published on this complex topic. Most of these endeavours, reflecting the clinician's highly detailed point of view were based on selected cases with little concern for the epidemiological context or upon the epidemiologist's population-based approach which tends to ignore important clinical details. Until quite recently, fundamental epidemiological aspects of epilepsy, as it is understood by clinicians, have not been explored, and clinicians viewed populationbased epidemiology as relatively irrelevant to their daily practice. This book is divided into two majors parts. Presentations in the first part address methodological issues regarding prognostic studies (including remission and mortality) as well as results from long-term cohort studies. The second part contains presentations on the clinical aspects and prognosis of several individual epilepsy syndromes as well as presentations about the prognosis of status epilepticus and outcome of frontal and temporal lobe surgery.
