Le Corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret - Restoration of the Clarté Building, Geneva
The book describes the story of Clarté, Le Corbusier’s first apartment building, continuing the narrative into the 21st century. The steel skeleton building completed in Geneva in 1930/1932 is a prototype of the Moderne style and a precursor of the Unité d’Habitation. The building was neglected for many decades and not listed as a historic building until the 1990s. In 2007 the external envelope was repaired as the first step, followed by refurbishment of the interior, in which building preservation requirements were taken into account in an exemplary manner. The building log book by the architects and structural engineers is illustrated with numerous new and historic drawings and photographs, and has been supplemented with an account of the building’s history. The renovated building is presented in large photographs.

Computational and Machine Learning Tools for Archaeological Site Modeling
This book describes a novel machine-learning based approach to answer some traditional archaeological problems, relating to archaeological site detection and site locational preferences. Institutional data collected from six Swiss regions (Zurich, Aargau, Grisons, Vaud, Geneva and Fribourg) have been analyzed with an original conceptual framework based on the Random Forest algorithm. It is shown how the algorithm can assist in the modelling process in connection with heterogeneous, incomplete archaeological datasets and related cultural heritage information. Moreover, an in-depth review of past and more recent works of quantitative methods for archaeological predictive modelling is provided. The book guides the readers to set up their own protocol for: i) dealing with uncertain data, ii) predicting archaeological site location, iii) establishing environmental features importance, iv) and suggest a model validation procedure. It addresses both academics and professionals in archaeology and cultural heritage management, and offers a source of inspiration for future research directions in the field of digital humanities and computational archaeology.
Qualitätsmanagement am Denkmal: Turmbau zu Babel?
Denkmäler bedürfen früher oder später der Pflege. Bereits im Planungsprozess und später am Kulturgut selbst treffen sich dabei Partner mit unterschiedlichen Zielvorgaben und Qualifikationen: von der Eigentümerschaft über Architekten und Restauratorinnen bis hin zu Denkmalpflegern. Die Arbeit am Denkmal stellt grosse Herausforderungen an alle Beteiligten. Wie lassen sich die notwendigen Konservierungs- und Restaurierungsziele definieren und durchsetzen? Wer entscheidet über die anzuwendenden Methoden? Wie lässt sich die Qualität der durchgeführten Massnahmen sichern? Im Rahmen einer in Bern im Oktober 2014 durchgeführten Fachtagung der Arbeitsgruppe Formation Continue / Weiterbildung / Formazione Continua wurde nach Ansätzen und Instrumenten gefragt, die sich zur Bewältigung der komplexen Prozesse im Umgang mit dem Denkmal herbeiziehen lassen. Die Diskussionen und Resultate sowie die daraus abgeleiteten wichtigsten Handlungsmaximen werden in diesem Band vorgestellt. Die Publikation gibt wichtige Hinweise und Anregungen für das Qualitätsmanagement am Denkmal.
