Evolution of Private Law
Once again, we are pleased to present this book which is the result of the conference held in Katowice in 2022 and the effect of the international cooperation between the Research Group of the Commercial Law acting at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice and representatives of foreign university departments of private law from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine. The publication is the continuation of the international cooperation that began in 2014. The idea of the sixth collective publication was to analyze the directions of legislative changes in the field of private law in individual countries. In this edition, the entire publication consists of fourteen articles devoted to the issues of company law, commercial contract law, including the development contract, capital market issues, and bankruptcy law. This publication is dedicated primarily to civil and commercial law academics, but it also addresses the issues relevant to legal practice. The presented papers may, to a large extent, constitute material for comparative research.
Reception of the 'Limited liability company (GmbH)'
The limited liability company (GmbH) was created by the German legislature in 1892 as a company form without any historical forerunners or suggestions from comparative law. It brought about a readjustment of the relationship between the chance of profit and the liability risk. However, criticism from the jurisprudence that had not been included in the quick legislative process was also heard from the start. As early as 1892, Levin Goldschmidt expressed concern that the GmbH would replace 'principally more solid forms of company'. However, this criticism did not prevent the company form of the GmbH from being adopted in numerous European countries, or at least seriously considering its reception.
Law in the United States
Law in the United States, Second Edition, is a concise presentation of the salient elements of the American legal system designed mainly for jurists of civil law backgrounds. It focuses on features of American law likely to be least familiar to jurists from other legal traditions, such as American common law, the federal structure of the U.S. legal system, and the American constitutional tradition. The use of comparative law technique permits foreign jurists to appreciate the American legal system in comparison with legal systems with which they are already familiar. Chapters in the second edition also cover such topics as American civil justice, criminal law, jury trial, choice of laws and international jurisdiction, the American legal profession, and the influence of American law in the global legal order.

One quarter of all Holocaust victims lived on the territory that now forms Ukraine, yet the Holocaust there has not received due attention. This book delineates the participation of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and its armed force, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (Ukrainska povstanska armiia—UPA), in the destruction of the Jewish population of Ukraine under German occupation in 1941–44. Computational and Experimental Analysis of Functional Materials
This book looks at the synthesis of polyaniline by different methods, under different conditions, for various applications, and presents studies of its properties by a wide range of the modern physic-chemical methods. The book provides a comprehensive analysis of experimental results from the point of view of the correlations in the triad synthesis conditions–structurephysico–chemical properties. It combines the results of experimental investigations and original methodology of the description of physical–chemical and electrochemical phenomena at interface surfaces, showing an influence of such phenomena on the applied aspects of the polyaniline and nanocomposites on its basis applications.
Chemistry of Polymeric Metal Chelates
This book deals with the chemistry of polymeric metal chelates. The main results and the production and chemical structure of polymers with chelate units as well as the specificity of metal complex binding of different structure are presented here.
