This manual is designed for a four-day training course on climate-smart agriculture that would take the learner from the basics of climate science to the impacts of climate change and the linkages among climate, agriculture and food security. It contains four modules, each addressing a particular aspect and consisting of several sessions that are held either in plenary, as one group, or in smaller work groups. The content and structure of this manual has been developed and tested through fieldwork involving extension agents and agricultural producers in Zambia, Malawi and Viet Nam.
To contribute to improving the promotion and implementation of the integrated approach for control and management of skin-related neglected tropical diseases (skin NTDs) in co-endemic countries in the WHO African Region, a hybrid meeting of experts on skin NTDs from West Africa was convened. Several aspects of the current situation and ways forward using integrated approaches and results-based financing were discussed and several recommendations were made by consensus. With focus on the coordination of resources and efforts, the meeting sought to strengthen alliances while ensuring that local field perspectives were properly explored. This meeting report captures the progress made on skin NTDs against the road map targets and the Sustainable Development Goals in West Africa.
How should one approach the notion of the precarious in art – its meanings and its outcomes? Its presence in artistic practices may be transient, yet it instigates permanent changes in the production, discourse, and perception of art. The Permanence of the Transient: Precariousness in Art gathers essays that examine the traces and implications of precariousness in contemporary art, and lays a foundation for a thoughtful study of its emergence in related fields throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. The different perspectives represented in this volume touch on art history and theory, curatorial practice, media art, philosophy, language, and transnational studies, and highlight artists’ narratives. Together, these interdisciplinary essays locate precariousness as an undercurrent in contemporary art and a connective tissue across diverse areas of knowledge and everyday life.
