Intraocular Lens Calculations

Zusammenfassung: Cataract surgery, with 25-30 million surgeries per year, has become one of most popular surgeries in the world. The calculation of its power is of utmost importance. As new premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) and modern surgical techniques have been developed, the demand has grown exponentially - not only for eliminating cataracts, but also for getting rid of the need for glasses. This book offers a comprehensive overview of IOL power calculations and its various formulas and methods. The early years of television relied in part on successful narratives of another medium, as studios adapted radio programs like Boston Blackie and Defense Attorney to the small screen. Many shows were adapted more than once, like the radio program Blondie, which inspired six television adaptations and 28 theatrical films. These are but a few of the 1,164 programs covered in this volume. Each program entry contains a detailed story line, years of broadcast, performer and character casts and principal production credits where possible. Two appendices ("Almost a Transition" and "Television to Radio") and a performer's index conclude the book. This first-of-its-kind encyclopedia covers many little-known programs that have rarely been discussed in print (e.g., Real George, based on Me and Janie; Volume One, based on Quiet, Please; and Galaxy, based on X Minus One). Covered programs include The Great Gildersleeve, Howdy Doody, My Friend Irma, My Little Margie, Space Patrol and Vic and Sade.

Although television critics have often differed with the public with respect to the artistic and cultural merits of television programming, over the last half-century television has indubitably influenced popular culture and vice versa. No matter what reasons are cited--the characters, the actors, the plots, the music--television shows that were beloved by audiences in their time remain fondly remembered. This study covers the classic period of popular television shows from the 1960s through the 1990s, focusing on how regular viewers interacted with television shows on a personal level. Bridging popular and scholarly approaches, this book discovers what America actually watched and why through documents, footage, visits to filming locations, newspapers, and magazine articles from the shows' eras. The book features extensive notes and bibliography.

Is There Tuna In Heaven?

Having grown up in poverty without a father and as the subject of bullying, the author at a young age turned to pets (and particularly cats) to provide her with unconditional love and acceptance. Unfortunately, during her youth, she never overcame her low self-esteem and had difficulty believing in God. It took a bad marriage to a controlling and abusive individual, and a birthday gift of one extraordinary cat, Clio, to drive home the early lesson she had learned about pets. Clio was the runt of the litter, survived cancer twice, and had an incredible will to live. She knew no fear (sometimes to her detriment) and was able to overcome not one, but two, major disabilities. This book is funny, touching, and inspirational and should appeal to not only cat and pet lovers, but anyone who has ever overcome a disability or faced serious illness, been bullied, or lost his or her faith.
