MESSAGE TO MORTALS

MESSAGE TO MORTALS

Poetry is the soul's state captured and made feasibly relatable with words that stem from the soul's unseen depths. However, in this epoch, poetry and its unmatched prowess are on a gargantuan decline; and because of this doleful waning of poetry, "Message To Mortals" was engendered to reinstate poetry to its position globally and to show its colossal importance in the literary world and to mortals in general. "Message To Mortals" is a compilation of 130 message-filled and wits-satuated poems that convey deep messages about every relatable facet of life from faith, to love, to romance, to family, to friendship, to success, to hope, to dejection and the way out and finally, to eternity and the life after. It is worthy of being called "The Bible of poetry."

This book broadens readers’ understanding of the stratigraphic framework and structural styles for improved hydrocarbon prospectivity in the intermediate and deeper horizons of the eastern Coastal Swamp Depo-belt of Nigeria’s Niger Delta Basin. It equips readers to interpret complex sedimentary units, such as the paralic sequence of the Niger Delta Basin, using sequence stratigraphic tools integrated with well logs, biostratigraphic, paleobathymetric and seismic data. It also offers numerous tips and insights into reservoirs, seals, source rocks and hydrocarbon-type trends/distribution across several production fields, and provides a valuable guide to support exploration and production.

Curriculum Overload A Way Forward

Schools are constantly under pressure to keep up with the pace of changes in society. In parallel, societal demands for what schools should teach are also constantly changing; often driven by political agendas, ideologies, or parental pressures, to add global competency, digital literacy, data literacy, environmental literacy, media literacy, social-emotional skills, etc. This “curriculum expansion” puts pressure on policy makers and schools to add new contents to already crowded curriculum.

Fifty years after the foundation of the OAU and the consolidation of most African states and institutions, the international panorama and Africa’s position in it have changed considerably. The world's geopolitical and economic configuration has evolved, with new actors appearing in a new period of globalization. In tone with ECAS 2013, this volume proposes that the experiences appearing in Africa question dominant paradigms in terms of political practice and academic reflection and thus offer a clear challenge to the academic community. The volume offers clues to answer questions such as: What is the impact of the current processes of globalization for African countries and African citizens? How should African Studies be engaged to gauge African dynamics, both at a local and global level? What interdisciplinary means and tools should be brought in to produce an epistemologically relevant view (or narrative) of the issues under analysis?

Omenuko

Omenụkọ (real name: Igwegbe Odum) whose home in Okigwe, Eastern Nigeria, was a popular spot for field trips by students in schools and colleges, as well as a favourite attraction for tourists in the decades before and after the Nigerian Independence in 1960. Generations of Igbo children began their reading in Igbo with Omenụkọ, and those who did not have the opportunity to go to school still read Omenụkọ in their homes or at adult education centers. Omenụkọ was a legendary figure and his 'sayings' became part of the Igbo speech repertoire that young adults were expected to acquire. Omenụkọ, a classic in Igbo Literature, written by Pita Nwana and published in 1933 by Longman, Green & Co, Ltd, London, is in this translation made accessible to a global audience. Emenyonu utilizes his mastery of both languages (Igbo and English) to faithfully present to his audience a complete rendition of Omenụkọ as originally written. The timeless significance of this novel as a progenitor of the Igbo language novel is again underscored.
