Processing of fruits produces large volumes of wastes and by-products, which can create environmental problems. However, these fruit processing residues have amazing nutritional composition, containing good amounts nutrients and biofunctional components. So, the current trend in the present world it to efficiently utilize these fruit wastes and byproducts and minimizing their impact on the environment. Proper utilization of fruit processing wastes and by‐Products would not only emerge as a source of extra profit to the fruit processing industry but also will help in lessen the environment pollution due to these fruit processing byproducts. ‘Handbook of Fruit Wastes and By‐Products: Che...
The Oxford Handbook of Economics and Human Biology enhances understanding of how economic conditions influence human well-being and how human health shapes such economic outcomes as wealth. The volume contains cutting-edge reviews from the major thought leaders in the field. New insights are gained into economic history, inequality, and economic development.

The Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) is an organelle with extraordinary signaling and homeostatic functions. It is the organelle responsible for protein folding, maturation, quality control and trafficking of proteins destined for the plasma membrane or for secretion into the extracellular environment. Failure, overloading or malfunctioning of any of the signaling or quality control mechanisms occurring in the ER may provoke a stress condition known as ‘ER stress’. Accumulating evidence indicates that ER stress may dramatically perturb interactions between the cell and its environment, and contribute to the development of human diseases, ranging from metabolic diseases and cancer to neurodegen...
Global Warming: Causes, Impacts and Solutions covers all aspects of global warming including its causes, impacts, and engineering solutions. Energy and environment policies and strategies are scientifically discussed to expose the best ways to reduce global warming effects and protect the environment and energy sources affected by human activities. The importance of green energy consumption on the reduction of global warming, energy saving and energy security are also discussed. This book also focuses on energy management and conservation strategies for better utilization of energy sources and technologies in buildings and industry as well as ways of improving energy efficiency at the end us...
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Design Science Research in Information Systems and Technology, DESRIST 2014, held in Miami, FL, USA in May 2014. The 19 full papers, 7 research-in-progress papers and 18 short papers describing prototype demonstrations were carefully reviewed and selected from 71 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on design science; emerging themes; meta issues; methods; supporting business processes; team support; work-in-progress papers and prototypes.
Inflammation is caused by a variety of stimuli including physical damage, UV irradiation, microbial invasion, and immune reactions. The classical key features of inflammation are redness, warmth, swelling, and pain, and their cascades can lead to the inflammatory bowel disease and psoriasis. Many inflammatory diseases are becoming common among the elderly worldwide. Clinically used anti-inflammatory drugs suffer from the disadvantages of side effects and high treatment costs in the case of biologics. Therefore, research on new anti-inflammatory molecules and the elucidation of their molecular mechanisms are being actively conducted. This Special Issue on "Chemopreventive Activities of Phytochemicals" is intended to offer anti-inflammatory active natural products as candidates and/or leads for pharmaceuticals. The research fields of this Special Issue include natural products, chemistry, phytochemistry, pharmacognosy, food chemistry, bioorganic synthetic chemistry, chemical biology, molecular biology, molecular pharmacology, and other related research fields.
