Extremist Mindsets and Strategies
Presenting an analysis of modern-day extremism, this book explores how any group of people or participants in a movement--political, ideological, racial, ethnonational, religious, or issue-driven--can adopt extremist mindsets if they believe their existence or interests are threatened. Looking beyond "fringe" resistance groups already labeled as terrorists or subversives, the author examines conventional organizations--political parties, religious groups, corporations, interest groups, nation-states, police, and the military--that deploy extremist strategies to further their agendas. Dynamics of mutual causation process between dominant and resistant extremist groups are explored, including how resistant extremisms surface in response to oppressive and abusive measures advanced by the dominant groups to further their interests and maintain supremacy through systemic injustices, as happens in slavery, caste systems, patriarchy, colonialism, autocracy, exploitive capitalism, and discrimination against minorities.
XXXII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE SPANISH SOCIETY FOR COMPARATIVE PSYCHOLOGY
The XXXII International Conference of the Spanish Society for Comparative Psychology has been organized by the Spanish Society of Comparative Psychology (SEPC), at the University of Almeria, on 21st, 22nd and 23rd September of 2022. The present work includes the abstracts of the different symposia, oral communications and poster sessions presented during the meetings. There were 2 plenary lectures about “Perceptual learning mechanisms and its implications for eating behavior” presented by Isabel de Brugada Sauras (University of Granada) and “Expanding the scope of associative learning models by incorporating the untidiness of natural stimuli” presented by Federico Sanabria and Cristina Santos (Arizona State University). Moreover, There were 30 symposia (divided into 7 sessions), 41 oral communications (divided into 8 sessions), and 55 posters (divided into 3 sessions). Finally, 21 people constituted the organizational committee and 27 people constituted the scientific committee.
Innovative Applications in Smart Cities

Hacia una nueva conceptualización y medición de las actitudes intergrupales basadas en dimensiones estereotípicas
El desarrollo de este trabajo pretende contribuir al avance en la medición y la conceptualización de las actitudes intergrupales. Algunas de las propuestas presentadas han dado lugar a la identificación de nuevos constructos que reflejan el contenido de los estereotipos: 1) las diferencias latentes entre las actitudes intergrupales hacia el NBC y las actitudes hacia exogrupos concretos (i.e., representan las características específico cas de un exogrupo frente al resto de la categoría) y 2) las evaluaciones globales (compartidas por todos los indicadores de los estereotipos). Futuras investigaciones deberán explorar la relación entre estos constructos y diferentes reacciones emocionales y comportamientos dirigidos hacia el exogrupo, así como con otras variables intergrupales de interés, como la identidad social, la similitud percibida, la percepción de amenaza o los procesos de aculturación.
