Paul and James's Naturist Adventure

Paul Jessop and James Handle are two fourteen-year-olds who have known each other all their lives. One very warm day while out roaming through the local countryside and woods, not far from home, they're suddenly surprised when they spot a naturist rambler. Having never seen anyone walk about like this before their curiosity gets the better of them and they decide to follow him. It leads to them finding out about a naturist swim at their own local leisure centre and, after deducing what the word 'naturist' means, want to find a way of getting in to see for themselves what's going on. However, this is far from straightforward and, as you might guess, they're both very reserved boys. They manage to get in without being seen, but how? Who do they meet? Do they make any friends, and what's more; do they get away with it? What will their parents say if they find out? Read the full story and discover the delights of naturism for yourself.

Own Goals

Terrorism, military response and the lessons from history that governments still fail to grasp. This book argues that whilst the overriding purpose of counter-insurgency is political the actual campaign is invariably seen as military. The expense, death and trauma of the military action usually mean that political purposes come a poor second in terms of popular and governmental aims. Rhodesia provided an example of the disastrous consequences of such an approach. Political judgments were invariably based upon popular assessments of the Africans stemming from the beliefs of the Pioneers; in other words they were founded on ignorance. Likewise military strategies and tactics owed much to those established in the 1890s. These are largely seen through the career of Captain Charles Lendy RA, a fan of the machine gun and "shock and awe." His experiences were reflected by the Rhodesian Army in the 1970s and so units who consistently branded themselves as the best anti-terrorist forces in the world lost.

Indifferent

Cass Cassidy was enjoying his National Service in picturesque Trieste when the fun was shattered by court martial and military prison. Just the start of a fascinating tale of interesting places and colourful characters - cheerful, sad, vulnerable, malicious and evil. The story takes a positive turn after liberation when Cassidy meets a lovely Irish girl and they are married – the start of family life and its varied challenges. Indifferent is the first book of a trilogy about the life of Cass Cassidy (1934-1968), which he eventually shared with his wife Kathleen and their three children Linda Ann, Lorna Theresa and Mark McNeill.
