Hingga saat ini bila kita mendengar kata manga, maka kita akan langsung berpikir tentang komik yang dibuat oleh orang Jepang dan bercerita tentang segala hal yang berhubungan dengan Jepang. Kata manga dapat ditulis dalam huruf hiragana, katakana, maupun kanji, namun semuanya memiliki maksud yang sama yakni komik. Manga di Jepang dikenal memiliki banyak genre yang dapat disesuaikan dengan usia pembacanya. Sehingga penikmat manga dapat ditemukan mulai dari anak-anak hingga dewasa, laki-laki maupun perempuan.
