Characterization of Nanomaterials
This Special Issue “Characterization of Nanomaterials” collects nine selected papers presented at the 6th Dresden Nanoanalysis Symposium, held at Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems in Dresden, Germany, on 31 August 2018. Following the specific motto of this annual symposium “Materials challenges—Micro- and nanoscale characterization”, it covered various topics of nanoscale materials characterization along the whole value and innovation chain, from fundamental research up to industrial applications. The scope of this Special Issue is to provide an overview of the current status, recent developments and research activities in the field of nanoscale materials characterization, with a particular emphasis on future scenarios. Primarily, analytical techniques for the characterization of thin films and nanostructures are discussed, including modeling and simulation. We anticipate that this Special Issue will be accessible to a wide audience, as it explores not only methodical aspects of nanoscale materials characterization, but also materials synthesis, fabrication of devices and applications.

Myths, Legends and Real Facts About Acute Lung Inflammation
Modern medicine considers the causative of acute nonspecific inflammation of the lung tissue as the main cause of the disease, and its effective neutralization as a guarantee of successful treatment. The book is based on results of the correction of the doctrine of pneumonia undertaken by the author several decades ago, which allowed him to substantiate the pathogenetic principles of treatment, and their clinical approbation showed the possibility of effective treatment of this category of patients without the usual emphasis on etiotropic agents. The analysis of materials on the mental perception of the problem discussed in the book against the background of objective facts and evidence presents the causes and scale of the formed misconceptions, which opens up the opportunity to purposefully begin to eliminate them.

The book deals with the languages of the descendants of the first Americans; it gives an insight into the American varieties of English, French, Portuguese and Spanish; it explores the outcome of the long-lasting coexistence of various autochthonous and European languages; it also looks into some very specific hybrid forms of locally or regionally unique varieties in the Americas, focusing on creolization, code-switching and translanguaging resulting from language contact.
