This book investigates how the emergence of the Arctic as a new geopolitical arena affects and reshapes the area known as the North Atlantic: Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and coastal Norway. The relationship between the center of the former Danish empire and its subordinates have rested on (varying degrees of) asymmetric power relations, that are intertwined with political as well as emotional bonds. With climate change a whole new reality is emerging in the Arctic and sub-Arctic areas. Power is moving north, and new connections and partnerships are being developed. Den anmelderroste Hvalens øje er historien om en drengs barndom på Færøerne i 1950’erne. Drengen er Astur, som har sine helt egne, helt selvstændige forestillinger om verdens indretning; han er totalt egenrådig og ikke helt fri for at kunne være noget af en prøvelse for sine omgivelser - især sin mor. En både munter og gribende historie om et ganske særligt barn, fortalt i 111 små kapitler. Arthur Krasilnikoff (1941-2012), der var uddannet filminstruktør på Den danske Filmskole, udgav oprindeligt Hvalens øje i 2004.

Kvar är fragment av åren 1946-2007, bilder ur ett äktenskap, resor i öster, möten med luffare, konstnärer, författare, filosofer, politiker. Här redovisas dagsscheman, vad han äter, dricker, tänker, lyssnar på för musik, drömmer. Och inkännande beskrivningar av hans älskade hustrus demens. Tabula rasa tar vid där Skogvaktarns pojke (2002) slutade.

The Faroe Islands
Rising steeply in austere beauty from the sea midway between Shetland and Iceland, the Faroe Islands appear as a dark, inhospitable mountain mass.
