Workers’ Self-Management in Argentina
In Workers’ Self-Management in Argentina, Marcelo Vieta homes in on the emergence and consolidation of Argentina’s empresas recuperadas por sus trabajadores (ERTs, worker-recuperated enterprises), a workers’ occupy movement that surged at the turn-of-the-millennium in the thick of the country’s neo-liberal crisis. Since then, around 400 companies have been taken over and converted to cooperatives by almost 16,000 workers. Grounded in class-struggle Marxism and a critical sociology of work, the book situates the ERT movement in Argentina’s long tradition of working-class activism and the broader history of workers’ responses to capitalist crisis. Beginning with the voices of the movement’s protagonists, Vieta ultimately develops a compelling social theory of autogestión – a politically prefigurative and ethically infused notion of workers’ self-management that unleashes radical social change for work organisations, surrounding communities, and beyond. La Televisión Sublevada. El caso Barricada Tv
Barricada Tv se convirtió en el primer canal de televisión alternativo, popular y sin fines de lucro en integrarse a la grilla de la TDA en el apogeo de un inédito proceso de concentración de la comunicación en la Argentina. ¿Cómo fue posible? Una respuesta a esa pregunta, que es a la vez una pregunta sobre la lógica de todo el sistema comunicacional, es desarrollada en este libro. El nuevo título analiza el infrecuente recorrido del canal Barricada Tv, desde su fundación en 2009, cuando estaba vigente una ley refractaria hacia los medios comunitarios, hasta su acceso pleno a la pantalla, que se concretó, irónicamente, durante el gobierno de Mauricio Macri. En medio de ese proceso se analiza el agitado debate en el que floreció y sucumbió la Ley de Servicios de Comunicación Audiovisual y una desigual pelea judicial entre Barricada Tv y el principal grupo de medios privados de la Argentina (Clarín), a modo de expresión de las reglas desiguales que imperan en sistema comunicacional argentino.
