The papers in this volume are based on the talks given at the conference on quantum groups dedicated to the memory of Joseph Donin, which was held at the Technion Institute, Haifa, Israel in July 2004. A survey of Donin's distinguished mathematical career is included. Several articles, which were directly influenced by the research of Donin and his colleagues, deal with invariant quantization, dynamical $R$-matrices, Poisson homogeneous spaces, and reflection equation algebras. The topics of other articles include Hecke symmetries, orbifolds, set-theoretic solutions to the pentagon equations, representations of quantum current algebras, unipotent crystals, the Springer resolution, the Fourier transform on Hopf algebras, and, as a change of pace, the combinatorics of smoothly knotted surfaces. The articles all contain important new contributions to their respective areas and will be of great interest to graduate students and research mathematicians interested in Hopf algebras, quantum groups, and applications. This book constitutes the proceedings of the QMath 7 Conference on Mathematical Results in Quantum Mechanics held in Prague, Czech Republic in June, 1998. The volume addresses mathematicians and physicists interested in contemporary quantum physics and associated mathematical questions, presenting new results on Schrödinger and Pauli operators with regular, fractal or random potentials, scattering theory, adiabatic analysis, and interesting new physical systems such as photonic crystals, quantum dots and wires.
This volume contains the proceedings of the OTAMP 2008 (Operator Theory, Analysis and Mathematical Physics) conference held at the Mathematical Research and Conference Center in Bedlewo near Poznan. It is composed of original research articles describing important results presented at the conference, some with extended review sections, as well as presentations by young researchers. Special sessions were devoted to random and quasi-periodic differential operators, orthogonal polynomials, Jacobi and CMV matrices, and quantum graphs. This volume also reflects new trends in spectral theory, where much emphasis is given to operators with magnetic fields and non-self-adjoint problems. This Special Issue is dedicated to neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs), a category of malignancy that demonstrates wide clinical heterogeneity, posing major challenges in diagnosis and management. There have been significant advances in the field of NEN genomics, pathology, imaging, and treatment over the past five years. NENs are examples of rare tumours (although their incidence and prevalence are increasing) where international collaborative efforts have allowed the generation of high-level evidence to guide optimal patient-centred care.
