“The most original and probably the most important writer on Magick since Aleister Crowley."—Robert Anton Wilson, author of the Prometheus Rising and other works Peter Carroll’s classic work has been profound influence on the Western magical world and on the practice of chaos magick in particular. In Liber Null and Psychonaut, Carroll presents an approach to the practice of magic that draws on the foundations of shamanism and animism, as well as that found in the Greek magical papyri, the occult works of Eliphas Levi and Aleister Crowley, and the esoteric meditative practices of classical India and China. Also very much at work in the text are 20th century scientific ideas of quantum p...

"Doodlebugs & Spitfires" is a delightful collection of memories and short stories written by Peter Carroll, the author of "Queen of Misfortune," in his trademark poetic and profoundly thoughtful style. Most of his stories, previously published in limited form in local English newspapers and magazines, like "Brave New World," "The Forties Street Tradesmen," "Doodlebugs," or "The Christmas of 43" evolve around his childhood in the Northern part of London during and after World War II. He describes the horrors that came with the V1 flying bombs, nicknamed the "Doodlebugs." Heroic British pilots in their "Spitfire" airplanes would attempt to divert the flying bombs from the populated areas, some...

'An Apprentice in the Lord's Workshop' is the story of the establishment of Letton Hall as a Christian Centre in Norfolk. It is also the personal story of a life given to serving the Lord. But most of all, this is the Lord's story and may it be to His glory. "Letton Hall is a workshop, a place where people can come and stay for a day, a week or longer, and experience God at work in practical and tangible ways. In the twenty-five years I spent living and working there, from being deeply involved in establishing it until the time I retired from active involvement, I have felt very much like an apprentice to the Lord in His workshop." Interview with a Wizard

Peter J Carroll developed the Theories and Practices of Chaos Magic which caused a revolution in magical and esoteric thinking in the last few decades of the twentieth century, and they continue to heavily influence it in the twenty first century. As the first in a new tradition of Sorcerer-Scientists, Carroll developed a paradigm in which Magic lies far closer to Science than to Religion. He formed a worldwide magical order to promote and develop the new insights into magic and then largely disappeared from public view to procreate and to build a business empire and continue scientific and metaphysical research in private. This book of interviews reveals the extraordinary life and adventures and thoughts of one of the world's most exceptional antinomian thinkers. It contains much that may intrigue, surprise, amaze, and outrage the reader on a very wide range of topics. The appendix contains Carroll's Hypersphere Cosmology thesis which presents a radical alternative to the big-bang theory, and which has, so far, resisted all attempts to falsify it.

Between Heaven and Modernity

Combining social, political, and cultural history, this book examines the contestation over space, history, and power in the late Qing and Republican-era reconstruction of the ancient capital of Suzhou as a modern city. Located fifty miles west of Shanghai, Suzhou has been celebrated throughout Asia as a cynosure of Chinese urbanity and economic plenty for a thousand years. With the city's 1895 opening as a treaty port, businessmen and state officials began to draw on Western urban planning in order to bolster Chinese political and economic power against Japanese encroachment. As a result, both Suzhou as a whole and individual components of the cityscape developed new significance according to a calculus of commerce and nationalism. Japanese monks and travelers, Chinese officials, local people, and others competed to claim Suzhou’s streets, state institutions, historic monuments, and temples, and thereby to define the course of Suzhou’s and greater China’s modernity.
