Aber nicht nur die Sterbenden sind in ihren Empfindungen oft einsam, isoliert und hilfebedürftig, sondern auch jene, die sie auf ihrem letzten Lebensweg begleiten wollen. Was den Angehörigen bevorsteht, erfüllt sie mit Unruhe und Unbehagen, es ängstigt sie, kann sie lähmen, handlungsunfähig machen. Wer sich in einer solchen Situation einer Beraterin/einem Berater anvertraut, wünscht sich, Hilfe bei der Aufgabe zu finden, andere über eine Schwelle zu begleiten, Mut und Vertrauen zugesprochen zu bekommen, um so beruhigt auf das Bevorstehende zugehen zu können. Anhand eines Beispiels werden Gesprächsabläufe mit Angehörigen und deren Reaktionen durch Theorien unterstützend reflektiert. Das besondere Augenmerk liegt dabei auf dem Umgang mit den Gefühlen und der Erstellung eines Angehörigendiagrammes.
