Heinrich Bartsch was born 4 October 1849 in Elizabetthal, Ukraine, South Russia. His parents were Absalom Bartsch and Maria Konrath. He married Barbara Janzen in 1875. They emigrated in 1875 and settled at Bingham Lake, Minnesota. They had eleven children. They moved to Dalmeny, Saskatchewan in 1903. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
