This volume is a biography of British physician, natural theologian and lexicographer, Peter Mark Roget (1779-1869). He is best known for publishing, in 1852, the Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases (Roget's Thesaurus), a classified collection of related words. As a young man, Roget compiled linguistic notes to improve the quality of his own lectures and writings. His life was marked by several incidents of sadness. His father and his wife died young. Roget's beloved uncle committed suicide in his presence. Roget struggled with depression for most of his life. His work on the thesaurus arose partly from an effort to battle depression. His catalog of words organized by their meanings, had been a vocation since his teens.

Poets. Geniuses. Revolutionaries. The members of the legendary band Lemonade Mouth have been called all these things. But until now, nobody's known the inside story of how this powerhouse band came to be - how five high-school outcasts found each other, found the music, and went on to change both rock and roll and high school as we know them. It all started at that fateful detention where they found inspiration from a dentist's jingle, a teacher's coughing fit, and a beat-up ukulele. Of course no one knew back then, that this was the start of the Lemonade Mouth revolution. Inspiration for the Disney Channel Original Movie.

Preaching Mark's Gospel

In a classic case of failing to see the forest for the trees, Jensen, a homiletics professor and author of two works on narrative preaching, says that preachers tend to analyze biblical books to glean the slightest bits of exegetical data, yet miss the thrust of the overarching story they try to convey. Jensen contends that preachers get too caught up in an analytical, left-brained mentality that obscures the power and meaning of the good news story. In these pages Jensen helps us approach Mark's gospel with eyes wide open rather than with microscope in hand. He treats Mark's gospel as a narrative whole and challenges preachers to tell the gospel's story to their congregations. In doing so, ...
