Boundary and Interior Layers, Computational and Asymptotic Methods - BAIL 2014
This volume offers contributions reflecting a selection of the lectures presented at the international conference BAIL 2014, which was held from 15th to 19th September 2014 at the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. These are devoted to the theoretical and/or numerical analysis of problems involving boundary and interior layers and methods for solving these problems numerically. Property-preserving Numerical Schemes For Conservation Laws
High-order numerical methods for hyperbolic conservation laws do not guarantee the validity of constraints that physically meaningful approximations are supposed to satisfy. The finite volume and finite element schemes summarized in this book use limiting techniques to enforce discrete maximum principles and entropy inequalities. This volume contains major lectures given at ENUMATH 99, the 3rd European Conference on Numerical Mathematics and Advanced Applications.The ENUMATH conferences were established in 1995 to provide a forum for discussing current topics in numerical mathematics. They convene leading experts and young scientists, with special emphasis on contributions from Europe. Recent results and new trends are discussed in the analysis of numerical algorithms, as well as their application to challenging scientific and industrial problems.The topics of ENUMATH 99 included finite element methods, a posteriori error control and adaptive mesh design, non-matching grids, least-squares methods for partial differential equations, boundary element methods and optimization in partial differential equations.
