This book presents methodologies suitable for the optimal design of control and diagnosis strategies for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) systems. One key feature of the methodologies presented is the use of modeling tools with an ideal balance between accuracy and computational burden. Particular emphasis is given to the useful combination of models within a hierarchical framework to reduce the experimental efforts required for characterization and testing. Such tools are proven to be highly effective for SOFC systems destined for both residential and transportation applications. Throughout the book, optimization is always conceived in such a way so as to allow the SOFC systems to work efficiently while guaranteeing safe thermal operation, as well as an extended lifetime. This book is aimed at scientists and engineers involved in the design of marketable SOFC systems. It gathers the knowledge and experience derived from other research and industry practice for which control and diagnosis have proven to be the main keys to success and market penetration.

These proceedings highlight the latest advances in fundamental research, technologies and applications of hydrogen energy and fuel cells. In recent years, energy conversion between electricity and hydrogen energy has attracted increasing attention as a way to adjust the load of the grid. These conference records discuss and exchange cutting-edge findings and technological developments in fields such as new proton exchange membrane electrolysers, new electrode materials and catalysts, renewable energy, off-grid/grid-connected water electrolysis for hydrogen production, key materials and components of fuel cells, high-temperature solid oxide water electrolysis, energy storage technologies and ...
This book collects a selection of papers presented at ELECTRIMACS 2019 - The 13th international conference of the IMACS TC1 Committee, held in Salerno, Italy, on 21st-23rd May 2019. The conference papers deal with modelling, simulation, analysis, control, power management, design optimization, identification and diagnostics in electrical power engineering. The main application fields include electric machines and electromagnetic devices, power electronics, transportation systems, smart grids, electric and hybrid vehicles, renewable energy systems, energy storage, batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells, wireless power transfer. The contributions included in Volume 2 are particularly focussed on methodological aspects, modelling and applied mathematics in the field of electrical engineering.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, or "tapping") is a rapidly growing practice that involves tapping two fingers along specific acupuncture points in order to improve memory and sleep and to relieve stress, anxiety, and pain. While memory loss is a natural part of the aging process, many experience memory issues for reasons other than aging. Stress, anxiety and depression can cause forgetfulness, confusion, difficulty concentrating and other issues that disrupt daily activities, and research suggests that we can ease memory impairments caused by stress with effective coping mechanisms like tapping. Offering real client stories and outcomes from research, this is a comprehensive guide to EFT tapping. Focused on improving memory, it offers practical applications for tapping that can alleviate everyday forgetfulness (like difficulty recalling peoples' names), supercharge learning processes in people of all ages, and treat dementia.
When tiny voices talk, three amazing things happen: they share surprising ideas and insights; they realise they are not so tiny; and they empower other tiny voices to talk too.Drawing on the winning formula of her Tiny Voice Talks podcasts, Toria Bono has compiled a great resource full of top tips and actionable advice from a range of tiny voices across the educational spectrum. The assembled voices speak on a broad range of topics relating to education and learner development - from mentoring, metacognitive skills and period education, to trauma-informed practice, nurturing curious learners and finding flow in the classroom. But above all, this book is a call to action for all those in our s...
Military spouses: Transform your military life stress into strength! "... a must-read for military spouses ... to learn and understand the circumstances and harm of stress, the outcome and capabilities of the mind, and the tools, questions, and reflections to manage through it all." —Sabina W. Zarlenga, MS, LPCC, NCC, CCTP, Army spouse Do you feel like you are constantly adjusting your life over and over again? As if the underlying stress of your service member's dangerous missions or the lengthy separations during deployments aren't enough. Each new assignment brings another relocation, potential job search, school changes, and more. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and believe that a life o...
What if everything we thought we knew about depression—and how to heal from it—was wrong? Many antidepressants—the first line in our standard of care for treating depression—bring with them potential health risks, yet 1 in 6 Americans takes medication to alleviate feeling sad, anxious, stuck, or unable to focus or sleep. More and more, conventional medicine pathologizes how we respond to life’s challenges—like feeling trapped in an unfulfilling job, grieving the death of a loved one, or being anxious about a bad relationship—telling us that they’re symptoms of disease. Psychiatrist Jodie Skillicorn presents a new path, debunking the myth of the neurochemical imbalance and exploring the roots of depression, such as adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and poorly managed day-to-day stress. Evidence-based and fully supported by current depression research, Dr. Skillicorn’s holistic methods for beating depression—including nutrition, mindfulness, fostering meaningful connections, exercise, sleep, nature, and breathwork—empower readers to become agents of their own wholeness and healing.
