“Pandemi tak berpengaruh,” kata pekebun melon eksklusif di Kota Bekasi, Jawa Barat, Ir. Yoga Purnomo. Pekebun melon chamoe hidroponik sejak 2018 itu menggambarkan permintaan melon eksklusif yang tetap tinggi selama masa penademi korona sejak Maret 2020. Dua tahun terakhir kian marak pekebun yang mengusahakan melon premium atau berkualitas. Selain chamoe, jenis lain yang diusahakan oleh para pekebun adalah melon amaime, hamigua, golden, tuscany, dan inthanon. Para pekebun membudidayakan melon-melon itu dengan teknologi hidroponik substrat atau fertigasi tetes. Beberapa pekebun malah mengadopsi peranti internet untuk mengatur distribusi nutrisi dan penyiraman alias fertigasi. Pantas hasilnya buah melon yang tampil wah. Hal itu mirip era 1970 ketika kali pertama melon masuk ke Indonesia. Buah Cucumis melo (dari bahasa Yunani, kata melopepo bermakna melon) juga menjadi buah mewah.

Perkembangan durian di Malaysia menuju industri. Musang King dan duri hitam andalan ekspor Kesibukan William Lee mulai meningkat pada September. Penyebabnya volume panen durian musang king makin banyak. Musim panen buah sejak Juni dan berlangsung hingga Desember. Pekebun durian di Pahang, Malaysia, itu menyeleksi buat berdasarkan bobot, bentuk buah, serta kondisi duri dan kulit buah. William membawa buah lolos seleksi ke bangunan seluas 2.500m2. Posisi bangunan itu di dekat dengan kebun. Di dalamnya terdapat ruangan dan peralatan untuk membekukan buah durian utuh beserta kulit dengan nitrogen cair. Proses pembekuan selama 2 jam dalam suhu minus 110c. Mesin pembeku berkapasitas 1 ton buah. Buah-buah durian beku itulah yang dikirim William ke pasar Tiongkok

Pasokan jamur tiram belum memenuhi pasar. Olahan baru dan peluang ekspor menjadikan bisnis jamur tiram potensial Ali Mustofa tidak lantas menjual 2.000 kg jamur tiram segar hasil panen dari kumbungnya. Petani jamur tiram dari Desa Ngembes, Kecamatan Gembong, Kabupaten Pati, Jawa Tengah, itu justru mengeringkan jamur tiram di bawah terik matahari. Jamur anggota famili Tricholomataceae yang semula berkadar air 25% turun menjadi 14%. Petani jamur sejak 2010 itu lantas mengolah menjadi 200 kg tepung untuk memasok eksportir di Jakarta. Sorgum (Sorghum spp.) adalah tanaman serbaguna yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber pangan, pakan ternak dan bahan baku industri. Sebagai bahan pangan, sorgum berada pada urutan ke-5 setelah gandum, jagung, padi, dan jelai. Kandungan proteinn sorgum pun seimbang dengan jagung sebesar untuk sorgum sendiri yaitu 10,11%, sedangkan untuk jagung yaitu 11,02%.
