Causality, Measurement Theory and the Differentiable Structure of Space-Time

Introducing graduate students and researchers to mathematical physics, this book discusses two recent developments: the demonstration that causality can be defined on discrete space-times; and Sewell's measurement theory, in which the wave packet is reduced without recourse to the observer's conscious ego, nonlinearities or interaction with the rest of the universe. The definition of causality on a discrete space-time assumes that space-time is made up of geometrical points. Using Sewell's measurement theory, the author concludes that the notion of geometrical points is as meaningful in quantum mechanics as it is in classical mechanics, and that it is impossible to tell whether the differential calculus is a discovery or an invention. Providing a mathematical discourse on the relation between theoretical and experimental physics, the book gives detailed accounts of the mathematically difficult measurement theories of von Neumann and Sewell.

Multistage Interconnection Network Design for Engineers

This textbook provides a quick and easy understanding of multistage interconnection networks (MINs) for engineers. The book contents focus on the design, performance metrics, and evaluation of these networks which are crucial in modern computer architecture. The contents equip engineering students, apprentices and professionals with in-depth knowledge and analysis of MINS, enabling them to build complex computer architectures for efficient data communications and cost effective solutions for circuit design. The book starts with an introduction to MINS and subsequently progresses to the evaluation of a range of MINS (SEN, Gamma-Minus, FTSN, FTGN, SEGIN). Key highlights of the book include: · Easy to understand notes on design, reliability and fault tolerance · Covers a wide range of MIN types with notes on design variants · Supplementary information aiding comprehension of the main content. · A curated list of references for further exploration and deeper understanding.

Factorization Methods for Discrete Sequential Estimation

This estimation reference text thoroughly describes matrix factorization methods successfully employed by numerical analysts, familiarizing readers with the techniques that lead to efficient, economical, reliable, and flexible estimation algorithms. Topics include a review of least squares data processing and the Kalman filter algorithm; positive definite matrices, the Cholesky decomposition, and some of their applications; Householder orthogonal transformations; sequential square root data processing; mapping effects and process noise; biases and correlated process noise; and covariance analysis of effects due to mismodeled variables and incorrect filter a priori statistics. The concluding chapters explore SRIF error analysis of effects due to mismodeled variables and incorrect filter a priori statistics as well as square root information smoothing. Geared toward advanced undergraduates and graduate students, this pragmatically oriented and detailed presentation is also a useful reference, featuring numerous helpful appendixes throughout the text.
