Bioremediation using microbes is a sustainable technology for biodegradation of target compounds, and an omics approach gives more clarity on these microbial communities. This book provides insights into the complex behavior of microbial communities and identifies enzymes/metabolites and their degradation pathways. It describes the application of microbes and their derivatives for the bioremediation of potentially toxic and novel compounds. It highlights the existing technologies along with industrial practices and real-life case studies. Features: Includes recent research and development in the areas of omics and microbial bioremediation. Covers the broad environmental pollution control app...
In the recent past, significant strides have been made in the domain of plant growth regulators (PGRs) and biostimulants. In the sustainable utilization of plant germplasm PGRs and biostimulants play a pivotal role. With a magnified growth rate and less risk of inducing clonal somaclonal variations, PGRs (such as auxins, gibberellins, isoprenoid and aromatic cytokinins, ethylene, and abscisic acid) serve as a boon to plant biologists especially those working with rare endangered and threatened species and medicinal and aromatic plant species. Furthermore, the combined effect of PGRs with LEDs (light-emitting diode) on various aspects of plant development is an area of research gaining attention. The use of biostimulants to promote plant growth, yield and stress tolerance has increasingly gained attention. However, their functional role in the growth and development of plants is not clearly understood.
Biotechnologies for Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery: Current Trends and Future Scope presents up-to-date insights on the water crisis stemming from wastewater production. Edited by experts in the field, the book's chapters are structured around different types of bioremediation approaches (phytoremediation, myco-remediation, bio-stimulation, bio-augmentation, rhizoremediation, etc.) all applied in the context of wastewater treatment. This comprehensive resource equips students, research scholars, and policymakers with a holistic understanding of wastewater treatment and resource recovery through bioremediation techniques. Abundant real-world applications and case studies empower r...
Fungal Secondary Metabolites: Synthesis and Applications in Agroecosystem presents the properties and biotechnological applications of microbial metabolites and their industrial, pharmaceutical, antimicrobial, and anticancer applications. Chapters cover topics such as the role of fungal metabolites in the management of abiotic stress, microbial alkaloids and their pharmaceutical and agricultural applications, and fungal metabolites as novel plant pathogen antagonists. Plant and agri-food environmental scientists, researchers, graduate, and post-graduate students in related fields will find value in this reference which is published as part of the series Nanobiotechnology for Plant Protection. - Addresses the link between fungal secondary metabolites and health - Covers cryptic genes and their link to the production of bioactive compounds - Explores possibilities for producing bio-based business solutions
