This book constitutes the proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Intelligent Technology, ICDCIT 2022, held in Bhubaneswar, India, in January 20212. The 11 full papers presented together with 4 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 50 submissions. There are also 4 invited papers included. The papers were organized in topical sections named: invited papers, distributed computing and intelligent technology.
The second published collection based on a conference sponsored by the Metroplex Institute for Neural Dynamics -- the first is Motivation, Emotion, and Goal Direction in Neural Networks (LEA, 1992) -- this book addresses the controversy between symbolicist artificial intelligence and neural network theory. A particular issue is how well neural networks -- well established for statistical pattern matching -- can perform the higher cognitive functions that are more often associated with symbolic approaches. This controversy has a long history, but recently erupted with arguments against the abilities of renewed neural network developments. More broadly than other attempts, the diverse contribu...
Written for those interested in designing machines to perform intelligent functions & those interested in studying how these functions are performed by living organisms, this bk dicusses the mathematical structure & functional significance of neural oscil
The three-volume set LNCS 13623, 13624, and 13625 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 29th International Conference on Neural Information Processing, ICONIP 2022, held as a virtual event, November 22–26, 2022. The 146 papers presented in the proceedings set were carefully reviewed and selected from 810 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: Theory and Algorithms; Cognitive Neurosciences; Human Centered Computing; and Applications. The ICONIP conference aims to provide a leading international forum for researchers, scientists, and industry professionals who are working in neuroscience, neural networks, deep learning, and related fields to share their new ideas, progress, and achievements.
Soft Computing has emerged as an important approach towards achieving intelligent computational paradigms where key elements are learning from experience in the presence of uncertainties, fuzzy belief functioos, and ·evolutioo of the computing strategies of the learning agent itself. Fuzzy, neural and evolutionary computing are the three major themes of soft computing. The book presents original research papers dealing with the theory of soft computing and its applicatioos in engineering design and manufacturing. The methodologies have been applied to a large variety of real life problems. Applicatioo of soft computing has provided the opportunity to integrate human like 'vagueness' and rea...
During the last few years there has been a rapidly increasing interest in neural modeling of brain and cognitive disorders. This multidisciplinary book presents a variety of such models in neurology, neuropsychology and psychiatry. A review of work in this area is given first. Computational models are then presented of memory impairment in Alzheimer's disease, functional brain reorganization following a stroke, patterns of neural activity in epilepsy, disruption of language processes in aphasia and acquired dyslexia, altered cognitive processes in schizophrenia and depression, and related disorders. This is the first book on this topic, with contributions from many of the leading researchers in this field.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 14th Pacific-Asia Conference, PAKDD 2010, held in Hyderabad, India, in June 2010.
This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th Multi-disciplinary International Workshop On Artificial Intelligence, MIWAI 2012, held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in December 2012. The 29 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections in AI-GIS for climate change, computer vision, decision theory, e-commerce and AI, multiagent planning and learning, game theory, industrial applications of AI, multiagent systems and evolving intelligence, robotics and Web services.
Scientists may be approaching the finish-line in the race to understand consciousness. John Taylor introduces the contending theories, including his own. There is a sense among scientists that the time is finally ripe for the problem of consciousness to be solved once and for all. The development of new experimental and theoretical tools for probing the brain has produced an atmosphere of unparalleled optimism that the job can now be done properly: The race for consciousness is on! In this book, John Taylor describes the complete scene of entries, riders, gamblers, and racecourses. He presents his own entry into the race, which he has been working on for the past twenty-five years—the rela...
