Pluriverse

Alexander Kluge sees himself as an author. He inspires his readers, listeners and viewers with his films, texts interviews and much more besides. On the occasion of his 85th birthday, with 'Alexander Kluge. Pluriverse' Museum Folkwang is presenting an exhaustive exhibition destined to visualize the core of his multimedia oeuvre.0Kluge forges links and then explores through them what makes human beings tick, how we are unique and stubborn, capable of judgement, to what extent history and stories are stored within us, what felt and what real options for action we have, and why our biographies are a currency.0Alexander Kluge uses images, texts and objects to create ever new constellations, whose sense or nonsensicality is primarily the product of montage. Kluge allows our imagination to germinate in the interstices between the two poles. Central to him are the links between emotion and reason, and he is forever hunting down the theoretical in everyday life.00Exhibition: Museum Folkwang, Essen, Germany (15.09.2017-07.01.2018).

Abstract: Concerns about interviewer effects in interviewer-mediated surveys have accompanied survey research for a long time. As interviewers are involved in nearly all aspects of the survey implementation process, they can affect almost all types of survey errors, including sampling error, nonresponse error, measurement error, and, to a lesser extent, error resulting from the coding and editing of survey responses. Building on the existing literature, this survey guideline provides an overview of interviewer effects and their estimation. It consists of two parts: first, an introductory text using the total survey error (TSE) paradigm as a theoretical framework to provide a general overview of interviewer effects; second, a brief introduction to calculating interviewer effects using multilevel analyses

American author Ben Lerner and German filmmaker and writer Alexander Kluge come from two different generations but share a single passion: an interest in the long-term effects of things. A line from Lerner's poem "The Sky Stops Painting and Turns to Criticism," which Kluge was struck by some years ago, became the starting point for their first joint book project. Kluge responded to this celestial critique with a story about the technically controlled power of a squadron of bombers in the skies over Aleppo, which Lerner answered with a sonnet. Step by step this dialogue gave rise to poems, stories and conversations in which the heavens reveal their bewitching and threatening qualities. A seri...
