Global migration movements are also reflected in classrooms. However, the professional re-entry of migrant teachers with and without a refugee background has been neglected for a long time. This publication, which was developed in the European project "International Teachers for Tomorrow's School" (ITTS), is dedicated to this question. In seven country contributions, the opportunities and challenges of returning to work in Belgium, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Poland, Slovenia and Türkiye are examined – for some of the countries, new ground was broken. It is shown which conditions favour, challenge or prevent a new professional start. In addition, the results of the cross-national ITTS study are presented, in which high satisfaction values are reflected among those teachers who succeeded in re-entering the profession despite many hurdles. Finally, the findings of the project are condensed into a series of hints and recommendations.
The challenges of a complex and volatile world require solutions that reconcile divergent perspectives and interests. In schools, interdisciplinarity has been integrated within curricula for decades, yet it is rarely applied as a collaborative practice. Communication between different fields of research is not enough. Without meaningful collaboration, opportunities to connect are lost, and teachers and students fail to benefit from the experience of lived interdisciplinarity. A new periodical, entitled EDU:TRANSVERSAL, presents the latest findings of national and international transversal research as well as the state of the art of interdisciplinarity in didactics. The aim of this annual publication is to stimulate a transversal turn in education.
In this celebrated biography of her mother and autobiography, Silvia Rodgers gives a warts-and-all account of what her off-centre life was like, most always in the wrong place at the most perilous time, almost always in the most difficult company. Her mother is the Red Saint of the title, a Polish Jewish Communist in the Weimar Republic as the stormclouds gathered. In a political sense she was a Saint: dedicated, monomaniacal, with an unbending sense of right and wrong. That saintliness did not include much in the way of conventional maternal feeling for her children; and her relations with her husband were less than harmonious. Race and politics became a problem as the Nazis rose to power: ...
Diesen Hauptgedanken variiert Tillich in unterschiedlichen ...
The complex philosophical theology of Paul Tillich (1886–1965), increasingly studied today, was influenced by thinkers as diverse as the Romantics and Existentialists, Hegel and Heidegger. A Lutheran pastor who served as a military chaplain in World War I, he was dismissed from his university post at Frankfurt when the Nazis came to power in 1933, and emigrated to the United States, where he continued his distinguished career. This authoritative Companion provides accessible accounts of the major themes of Tillich's diverse theological writings and draws upon the very best of contemporary Tillich scholarship. Each chapter introduces and evaluates its topic and includes suggestions for further reading. The authors assess Tillich's place in the history of twentieth-century Christian thought as well as his significance for current constructive theology. Of interest to both students and researchers, this Companion reaffirms Tillich as a major figure in today's theological landscape.
