Es werden die Grundlagen des Therapie-Konzepts, wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse über Wahrnehmung, Nervenbahnen, cerebrale Struktur und Funktion ebenso ausführlich behandelt wie die Methode der Therapie in Wort und Bild beschrieben wird. Sie wurde in der neurorehabilitativen Pflege entwickelt, und ihr Ziel ist es, durch gezielte Einreibungen der Hände und Füße sowie der taktilen Stimulation des faci-oralen Bereichs – mit festgelegter Technik und bestimmten Rhythmus, zeitlicher Ordnung und vorgegebenem Berührungsschema – die kortikale Potenz wahrnehmungsbeeinträchtigter Patienten aufrechtzuerhalten oder wieder herzustellen. Ein anthropologisch orientierter Teil, ergänzende und verbindende Pflegemaßnahmen zur Therapie sowie eine Analyse der Pflegetherapie im Zusammenhang mit Pflegeprozess, Pflegemodellen und Ethik werden ebenso dargestellt.
