The first successful finished Smart Grid Prototype Projects deliver new requirements and best practices to meet them. These solutions will be the base for the upcoming norms and standards in the near future. This domain is not only part of one Standard developing Organization (SDO), but also of many different organizations like ITU, ISO, IEC and additionally for the electro mobility part the SAE. This results in many standards which are based on different aspects. Furthermore the European mirror organizations (ETSI,CEN, CENELEC) as well as the German mirror groups of these groups are involved, which are delivering further rules and adaption for the local market. Because of this diversity of ...

Existing literature on energy audits consists almost exclusively of practical guides. This book looks at energy auditing from a scientific perspective. It discusses the nature of energy audits and provides a universally applicable data model as a basis for automatic processing of a large number of energy audits. Qualitative aspects of auditing are discussed in detail. The modeling enables an improved evaluation of subsidy programs for energy audits, but also a systematic and teamwork-oriented creation of energy audits.
An integrated approach is presented for systematically incorporating social, economic, and environmental factors into transportation planning and decision making. The timely identification is stressed of the nature, magnitude, and incidence of these potential factors so that in all phases of transportation planning, alternatives may be developed that avoid or minimize adverse effects and that take full advantage of opportunities to increase benefits. The early, effective, knowledgeable involvement of the public to clarify issues and to aid in the development and evaluation of proposals in emphasized, and the effective use is stressed of expertise and resources both of the transportation agency and of other agencies with maximum flexibility and openess. Objectives for all phases of a transportation planning and design process are listed, a 4-phase study strategy is proposed, and the roles of the transportation professional are reviewed.

We live in a visual age. Images and visual artefacts shape international events and our understanding of them. Photographs, film and television influence how we view and approach phenomena as diverse as war, diplomacy, financial crises and election campaigns. Other visual fields, from art and cartoons to maps, monuments and videogames, frame how politics is perceived and enacted. Drones, satellites and surveillance cameras watch us around the clock and deliver images that are then put to political use. Add to this that new technologies now allow for a rapid distribution of still and moving images around the world. Digital media platforms, such as Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, play an important role across the political spectrum, from terrorist recruitment drives to social justice campaigns. This book offers the first comprehensive engagement with visual global politics. Written by leading experts in numerous scholarly disciplines and presented in accessible and engaging language, Visual Global Politics is a one-stop source for students, scholars and practitioners interested in understanding the crucial and persistent role of images in today’s world.
