Robert Scott Burn (1825-1901) was a Scottish engineer and author, who was a prolific writer on topics of agriculture, building construction and mechanical engineering, technical handbooks and a history of the steam engine. By occupation he was an agricultural engineer and wrote various books. In the late 1850s he began to write for the "Journal of Agriculture" and visited Belgium and Holland on three occasions, examining the peculiarities of agriculture in that region. His findings resulted in the book, "Notes of an Agricultural Tour in Belgium, Holland & the Rhine," published in 1862.
