Este libro forma parte de los productos del proyecto de investigación titulado Prototipo de una microrred eléctrica en la Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas PME-UD, desarrollado por los grupos de investigación Laboratorio de Investigación en Fuentes Alternativas de Energía (LIFAE) y Grupo de Compatibilidad e Interferencia Electromagnética (GCEM) de la Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad Francisco José de Caldas. Este texto responde a una necesidad de las sociedades modernas, en las cuales la tendencia es contar con redes eléctricas locales asistidas por las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones, mediante sistemas inteligentes de medida y estrategias avanzadas de gestión, con el fin de contribuir a la modernización de las redes eléctricas del país, la región y la misma universidad, de tal manera que respondan a los nuevos retos de competitividad y confiabilidad del sector eléctrico. Algunos aspectos tratados en este libro tienen un impacto local, nacional e internacional; sin embargo, el propósito global de la publicación es permitir que interesados en el tema de microrredes puedan contar con un texto de referencia.
