Governing the Crisis: Law, Human Rights and COVID-19 is a collection of essays by an interdisciplinary group of experts from around the world who look at different human rights issues which have emerged as relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic. The topics cover a range of issues in different countries, for example, tracing apps, digitalization, privacy, priority setting in health care, refugees, cruise ships or risks faced by children. Other chapters investigate the specific government responses in a number of countries. In addition, topics of wider legal interest are investigated, such as the role of constitutional courts, federalism and the concept of the state of emergency. Prof. Dr. Stefan Kirchner, MJI, is Research Professor of Arctic Law and the head of the Arctic Governance Research Group at the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland.
Public Theology in the Secular State
This book gives a persuasive answer to the need for public theology today. Rudolf von Sinner can draw from a rich basis of scholarship and experience related to the topic of public theology. His clear awareness of the contextuality of public theology is the reason for his repeated assurance in this book that we cannot speak about "public theology" but always only of "a" public theology. At the same time it is very clear for him that there is also an "intercontextuality". One of the great strengths of this book is its embeddedness into an international discourse on public theology, with a special emphasis on the South-South exchange. "Sinn und Sinnlosigkeit" ist eine kurze Reise durch einen relativ toten Winkel unserer Wissenschaftsgeschichte: Ausgehend von Iwan P. Pawlows Konditionierungslehre werden die Konsequenzen der Prinzipien des klassischen Behaviorismus unter die Lupe genommen und letzterer mit der Kontraposition der Phänomenologie Edmund Husserls konfrontiert. Der so genannte "neutrale Reiz" Pawlows erweist sich als Zünglein an der Waage. It is also useful for further education for ministers and priests. The book starts with four brief survey articles on the prerequisites for contemporary practical theological thinking. The central fields of Christian practice are then developed in a problem-oriented fashion, in each case based on the following structure: marking out current challenges, orientation in the field of action, empirical findings, historical and systematic reference points, basic practical and theological provisions, current debates and issues for the future.

Mensch bleiben in der Arbeitswelt
Die Gemeinsame Sozialarbeit der Konfessionen (GSA) im Bergbau hat über Jahrzehnte Maßstäbe zur Humanisierung der Arbeitswelt gesetzt. Die GSA steht bis heute für ein besseres Betriebsklima im Arbeitsprozess und die erfolgreiche Einführung neuer Formen der Zusammenarbeit in den Betrieben, welche später nicht selten dort dauerhaft umgesetzt werden konnten. Sie leistete zudem durch ihre Tagungen für fremdsprachige Mitarbeiter einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Integration von Arbeitsmigranten und ihren Familien in Deutschland, nicht nur im Arbeitsalltag, sondern auch im Freizeitbereich. Ein Schwerpunkt der zeithistorischen Darstellung liegt daher auf dieser Tagungsform. Die Arbeit der GSA war nicht nur auf den Steinkohlenbergbau beschränkt, sondern wurde und wird auch in einer Vielzahl anderer Branchen, wie seinerzeit im Opel-Werk in Bochum oder aktuell in der Wasserwirtschaft, erfolgreich praktiziert.
