Pieter Casparszen (Mabie) Van Naerden (living between 1647 and 1662) was identified with a Batavian alias which assigned the town of his origin as a last name. So literally, he was Peter, son of Caspar, of Naerden, Holland and only occasionally did he use the surname Mabie. He was closely associated with the Ryck family at New Amsterdam. He married Aechte Jans, the former wife of Abraham Willemszen Ryck (d.1651) and they were the parents of six children: Marritien, Jan, Engeltie, Metje, Caspar and Tryntie. He may possibly have had a first family which went by the surname Van Naerden including: Sarah Pieterse, Elizabeth Pieterse and Pieter Pieterse. The later Pieter was the father of Caspar and Pieterse (of the Schenectady family) and Hendrick Pieterse. Several genealogical angles are explored.
