Los rumiantes son herbvoros que pueden alimentarse de forrajes. Por ende, pueden digerir glcidos como hemicelulosa, celulosa y pectina. La utilizacin del alimento se lleva a cabo bsicamente usando procesos fermentativos y no por reacciones de tipo enzimtico.
