The Son of Abraham

Ten years after the city of Los Angeles is nearly destroyed by a violent domestic terrorist attack, Esther Robertson struggles to reconcile her father’s culpability as leader of the deadly Son of Abraham cult. She grants CBS’s top reporter, Cooper Carlson, a rare interview and insight into her father, Alan Robertson, who sits awaiting trial for his crimes in federal prison. A report of a horrific and seemingly natural disaster interrupts the interview. Another will follow and another after that. Are these increasingly violent and bizarre phenoms truly natural, or is there another force behind them? In the epic conclusion of the story of the Society at Sinder Avenue, the end times–put into motion by a demonic deal made generations ago–are finally unfolding. Destruction, famine, war, and pestilence reign. But is it God who comes to answer the prayers of the suffering and dying world, or is it Ceit Robertson, the ascended matriarch of the Society, Goddess of the Dead, and Ruler of the Night Forest? Will they offer salvation or Armageddon?

High school days in Africa were ones of challenge, hard-work and fun. I attended a total four high schools commencing Form 1 at Vainona High School, Forms 3 at Benoni and Churchill High Schools, and sixth form college at ILSA. During my time I faced many struggles and adjustments, but throughout my high school era I never failed a public exam (ZJC; O-, AS- and A-Levels; and Maths Olympiad). I also took a keen interest in sport and clubs. In particular I represented my schools in innumerable chess tournaments. There were also the times of flirting and romance. Punishments included the cane, manual labour and detention. Suspension and expulsions were only for very serious offences. I hope that this book brings back high school memories to each reader.

The Picture that Will Live Forever

The story of the Kelly Gang is considered the first narrative feature film ever made. Filmed outside Melbourne when the Kelly legend was still fresh, it was believed lost for many years. The Australian National Film and Sound Archive and the BFI have restored parts of the original 1906 film to create an amazing package, which includes two commentaries on the national and worldwide significance of the film, alongside soundtacks and a variety of viewing modes.

Countless educators from across the globe would love to leverage project based learning to create learner-centered opportunities for their students, but, believe it or not, PBL has yet to go mainstream. If project based learning can benefit so many students, why isn't this approach the norm in teaching? Because educators have questions. Since the release of their first book, Hacking Project Based Learning, Ross Cooper and Erin Murphy, prominent PBL experts, have connected with thousands of PBL practitioners. Project Based Learning is Cooper's and Murphy's response to the most common, and most complex, questions educators ask about PBL and inquiry, including: How do I structure a PBL experience? What do I do while the kids are working? How do I get grades? How do I include direct instruction? What happens when kids don't work well together? How do I manage the chaos? Project Based Learning answers these questions, and more, to show you how to do PBL and inquiry, and all school projects the right way, in any subject or grade. Order yours today, and launch PBL in your class tomorrow.

Whirlwind

Faster and better armed than the Spitfire, the Whirlwind was the RAF s response to a new generation of armoured German bombers which it expected to meet over England in 1940. A few months after its first flight, 1,000 Whirlwinds were ordered, but nine months later the RAF cancelled the entire programme. Just 114 were built, but they went on to have a distinguished three-year career from the uneasy months following the Battle of Britain to their final sorties against Hitler s V-weapon sites in France. Based on original research from military and corporate archives, this groundbreaking study throws new light on why the RAF had such high hopes for the Whirlwind, but was then prepared to cancel ...
