Mit diesem Tagungsband erscheinen zum vierten Mal "Usbekisch-deutsche Studien". Die Kooperation zwischen dem Germanistischen Institut der Universität Münster und dem Lehrstuhl für Deutsche Philologie an der Nationalen Universität Usbekistans wird seit 2004 als Germanistische Institutspartnerschaft (GIP) durch den DAAD gefördert. Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten in der Forschungsaktivität verschiedener Universitäts- und Sprachkulturen sowie interkulturelle Aspekte kommen hier zum Ausdruck. Dies entspricht dem weitgefassten Thema der Tagung: "Kontakte: Sprache, Literatur, Kultur, Didaktik".

Mamluk Historiography Revisited – Narratological Perspectives
This volume discusses Mamluk historical texts with an emphasis on literary/stylistic analysis, basically ignoring issues of 'factuality' versus 'fictivity'. None of the authors set out to write 'fiction'; nor would their audience have received their accounts as such. The events depicted were a matter of historical record; but their meaning was geared both to contemporary and to general concerns. The fact of telling them is part and parcel of the historian's task; the means of telling them has to do with the historian's choice of style; and style is all-important in conveying meaning. Were these accounts not considered 'true', the purpose behind their telling and the meaning they convey, would, arguably, be lost; but were they not told in the most effective manner, their meaning might not be clearly grasped.
Making Sense of History
In Making Sense of History: Narrativity and Literariness in the Ottoman Chronicle of Naʿīmā, Gül Şen offers the first comprehensive analysis of narrativity in the most prominent official Ottoman court chronicle. Using an interdisciplinary approach that combines methods from history and literary studies, Şen focuses on the purpose and function of the chronicle—not just what the text says but why Naʿīmā wrote it and how he shaped the narrated reality on the textual level. As a case study on the literalization of historical material, Making Sense of History provides insights into the historiographical and literary conventions underpinning Naʿīmā’s chronicle and contributes to our understanding of elite mentalities in the early modern Ottoman world by highlighting the author’s use of key concepts such as history and time.
Reinheit
Ausgangspunkt des interdisziplinären, transkulturellen und Epochen übergreifenden Sammelbandes ist die These, dass Reinheit einen Schlüsselbegriff menschlichen Zusammenlebens darstellt. Dienen doch Vorstellungen von Reinheit dazu, Wahrnehmungen zu ordnen und Erfahrungen zu vereinheitlichen, um auf diese Weise Selbst- und Weltdeutungen zu homogenisieren. Vorstellungen von Reinheit können dabei zu Leitideen kultureller, sozialer und politischer Ordnung avancieren, können institutionalisiert, mythologisiert, nationalisiert, radikalisiert und exportiert werden. Reinheit ist zudem ein eminent religiöser Begriff, der in fast allen Religionen die Nähe oder Ferne von Menschen zu Gott erkennbar machen soll - und damit auch gesellschaftliche Unterschiede zwischen den Menschen markiert. Die Beiträge des Sammelbandes sind vor diesem Hintergrund um die Themen 'Körper', 'Geschlecht', 'Gemeinschaft' und 'Rasse' gruppiert.

Der vorliegende Sammelband widmet sich dem Thema der Textkompetenz in den MINT-Fächern. Unter Textkompetenz wird dabei die Fähigkeit verstanden, Texte zu rezipieren, zu produzieren und aus ihnen zu lernen. Die Behandlung des Themas der Textkompetenz findet in drei Sektionen statt, die alle eine unterschiedliche Perspektive auf das Thema eröffnen: Textkompetenzentwicklung, Textsorten und Textqualität. - This edited volume is dedicated to the topic of text literacy in STEM subjects. Text literacy is understood as the ability to receive, produce and learn from texts. The topic of text literacy is dealt with in three sections, each offering a different perspective on the topic: text literacy development, text types and text quality.
Gottes Werk und Bosos Beitrag
Die Papstbiographien des Kardinals Boso bieten einen einzigartigen Einblick in die von Kirchenspaltungen und dem Kampf mit dem deutschen Kaisertum geprägte Geschichte des 12. Jahrhunderts. Unter seinen Texten sticht die Vita Papst Alexanders III. (1159-11181) hervor, der nicht nur einen der längsten und wichtigsten Pontifikate des Mittelalters erlebte, sondern auch in einem jahrzehntelangen Konflikt Kaiser Friedrich I. Barbarossa gegenüberstand. Bosos zeitgenössische Biographie wurde vor dem Hintergrund dieser damals noch aktuellen Auseinandersetzung geschrieben und stellt keineswegs eine neutrale Geschichtsdarstellung dar. Vielmehr argumentierte der Kardinal mal mehr, mal weniger subtil zugunsten seines Papstes und war sich auch für bewusste Falschdarstellungen nicht zu schade. Das vorliegende Werk nähert sich diesem wichtigen Text aus quellenkritischer Perspektive und kommt zu neuen Erkenntnissen über den Verlauf der Auseinandersetzung von Papst und Kaiser sowie über das Weltbild der mittelalterlichen Kurie.
