Analog Circuit Design

Analog Circuit Design contains the contribution of 18 tutorials of the 14th workshop on Advances in Analog Circuit Design. Each part discusses a specific todate topic on new and valuable design ideas in the area of analog circuit design. Each part is presented by six experts in that field and state of the art information is shared and overviewed. This book is number 14 in this successful series of Analog Circuit Design, providing valuable information and excellent overviews of analog circuit design, CAD and RF systems. Analog Circuit Design is an essential reference source for analog circuit designers and researchers wishing to keep abreast with the latest development in the field. The tutorial coverage also makes it suitable for use in an advanced design course.

Injury Research

Injury is recognized as a major public health issue worldwide. In most countries, injury is the leading cause of death and disability for children and young adults age 1 to 39 years. Each year in the United States, injury claims about 170,000 lives and results in over 30 million emergency room visits and 2.5 million hospitalizations. Injury is medically defined as organ/tissue damages inflicted upon oneself or by an external agent either accidentally or deliberately. Injury encompasses the undesirable consequences of a wide array of events, such as motor vehicle crashes, poisoning, burns, falls, and drowning, medical error, adverse effects of drugs, suicide and homicide. The past two decades...

Topics in Inorganic and Organometallic Stereochemistry

This volume is devoted entirely to inorganic and organometallic stereochemical subjects. Discusses the systematic notations that have been developed to satisfy the needs for a rational and systematic stereochemical nomenclature. Reviews the stereochemical aspects of the changes of bonding at carbon centers induced by metals, either catalytically or stoiciometrically. Also reviews the major achievements in current stereochemical research—the synthesis of asymmetric compounds mediated by transition metals. Discusses the structures of transition metal carbonyl clusters, summarizing recent progress in this expanding area and providing a semiquantitative rationalization of the structures for these clusters.

Analog Circuit Design

This book contains the extended and revised editions of all the talks of the ninth AACD Workshop held in Hotel Bachmair, April 11 - 13 2000 in Rottach-Egem, Germany. The local organization was managed by Rudolf Koch of Infineon Technologies AG, Munich, Germany. The program consisted of six tutorials per day during three days. Experts in the field presented these tutorials and state of the art information is communicated. The audience at the end of the workshop selects program topics for the following workshop. The program committee, consisting of Johan Huijsing of Delft University of Technology, Willy Sansen of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Rudy van de Plassche of Broadcom Netherlands B...

Organometallic Reaction Mechanisms of the Nontransition Elements provides selected significant developments in organometallic reaction mechanisms and outlines a self-consistent set of interpretations of these mechanisms. This book is organized into eight chapters and begins with discussions on bonding in theoretically important types of organometallic compounds and the potential surfaces and their relation to mechanisms. This is followed by significant chapters on electrophilic displacement reactions. Polar 1,2-addition and elimination reactions are covered in a separate chapter. Radical and photochemical reactions are described in the concluding chapters of the book, including the reverse reaction involving incorporation of a free metal and an organic halide into an organometallic compound. Organic chemists and researchers will find this book invaluable.

Diabetes and Exercise

Diabetes is a major public health problem in the United States. This collection, Diabetes and Exercise, discusses the extent of the problem of diabetes and sedentary lifestyle and presents a compelling rationale for the importance of increased physical activity and exercise in persons with diabetes. The concept of exercise as medicine has a strong but underappreciated scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of diabetes. Diabetes and Exercise, compiled by a team of experts in the field, focuses on both the physiological and practical aspects of the beneficial effects of exercise. This thorough collaboration provides the why's and how's to implementing the physical activity and exercise changes so important in diabetes prevention and disease management.

On Generalised Statistical Equilibrium and Discrete Quantum Gravity

Absolute concepts of time and energy are integral to standard thermal physics, but background independent systems are devoid of them. This thesis explores the foundational question of generalising equilibrium statistical mechanics to background independent systems, and applies the resulting formulation to non-perturbative discrete quantum gravity. It offers a discussion of the rich interface of thermal physics and quantum gravity in this context, providing a broad contextualisation of such topics. This work details how standard tools from many-body physics can be generalised to discrete quantum gravity labelled with graph-based, or dual polyhedral, quanta that are common to various approaches like tensorial group field theory, loop quantum gravity, dynamical triangulations and lattice quantum gravity. It provides a systematic investigation, both conceptual and technical, of quantum gravitational Gibbs states, thermofield double vacuum states, and their application in condensate cosmology to probe questions of Big Bang singularity resolution and geometric inflation.
