The topics highlighted are topics recommended by the Ministry of Health Malaysia to all hospitals and Baby-Friendly Clinics throughout Malaysia, for them to use in teaching mothers the most effective ways of breastfeeding. The information contained in this guidebook is not only suitable for pregnant mothers, but also suitable to be used as a reference after childbirth. In fact, health staff, lactation consultants and lactation counsellors can refer to this guidebook to help mothers deal with common breastfeeding problems such as positioning and attachment problems, breast engorgement and milk insufficiency. In addition, an infographic book, An Easy Way to Learn Breastfeeding would complete the teaching session for this guidebook.

Climate Conscious Low-Energy Tropical Built Environment is a welcome addition to the knowledge on green and sustainable architecture. Both the authors shared their vast knowledge and experience on low-energy and passive solar design. The approach is on the technology adapted and applied to ‘welcoming the sun’ as well as to ‘rejecting the sun’, with the emphasis on the passive elements design. As the world now is facing the rapid increase of population, the architects need to consider the future path of the built environment. A good knowledge in low-energy built environment in order to sustain the well-being of the earth is essential, before considering on the aspects of mechanical co...

Spectroscopy of Tropical Fruits: Sala Mango and B10 Carambola (Penerbit USM)

This research work plays an important role in transforming current conventional methodology in fruit quality definition and evaluation into scientific and technological objectives and implementation. Conventional definition in evaluating fruit quality is based on its physical attributes such as colour, size, shape and percentage of physical defects. While the conventional practice is dominating fruit industry, the efforts to transform this conventional definition towards a more valuable and scientific interpretation has been put forth by various research groups worldwide. For every presented variable, evaluating or quantifying methodologies will be introduced and promoted by scientific socie...

Economic Evaluation of Dispensing Separation Policy in Malaysia: A Decision Analysis Approach (Penerbit USM)

The separation of dispensing from doctor or what is simply called dispensing separation is a holty debated health policy proposition in Malaysia but rarely discussed. Each time the issue resurfaced, emotional opposition took place and extinguish the discussion of an important policy change that is long overdue in Malaysia. Consequently, both policy markers and the public are deprived of rational arguments for the policy. This book reported an economic evaluation study that has evaluated the benefit of dispensing separation policy from a Malaysian societal perspective using a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) framework. In the absence of empirical data or controlled trial on the policy, the study has also applied a decision modeling approach that make use of empirical data from published studies. This is the first time suach an approach was used in addressing this issue and we feel that this would have appeal not only to Malaysian policy, but also to other countries that are also contemplating such change.
