Im Jahr 2011 erliess der Deutsche Bundestag das Praimplantationsdiagnostikgesetz, das die Anwendung der Praimplantationsdiagnostik in Deutschland erstmals in Ausnahmefallen explizit zuliess. In England wird diese Methode seit vielen Jahren praktiziert und ist auch ausdrucklich gesetzlich geregelt.
