Excerpt from The Town of St. Johnsbury, Vt: A Review of One Hundred Twenty-Five Years, to the Anniversary Pageant 1912 The pages that follow are my response to many and urgent requests from citizens of the town. They are finally prepared under the auspices of the St. John de Crevec ur Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. I have set the work in paragraphs, a series of sketches not always closely related. Material is not at hand to satisfy our ideal of a very formal town history, at least for the first fifty years.
