Women in Cytokines and Soluble Mediators in Immunity
We are delighted to present the inaugural Frontiers in Immunology “Women in Cytokines and Soluble Mediators in Immunity” series of article collections. At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women away from science-related fields, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) research in particular. Science and gender equality are, however, essential to ensure sustainable development as highlighted by UNESCO. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers.
The Pridgen Family of Sapony Creek, Nash County, North Carolina
William Pridgen was born in about 1700 in North Carolina. His first wife is unknown and he is thought to have married (2) Martha Horn. He did marry (3) Mourning Thomas, widow of Joseph Thomas, on 13 Nov 1761 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. William's will was probated on 11 May 1762 in Edgecombe County. William had ten known children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina.
B Lymphocytes and Autoimmunity
This is a collection of papers presented at the B Lymphocytes and Autoimmunity conference held on May 21-25, 1996 in Prague. The information presented includes data on B cell subset identification and development, antibody repertoire selection, tolerance induction, and antigen presentation.
