Kampania antysyjonistyczna w Polsce 1967–1968
Opisywane w książce wydarzenia rozegrały się w dwóch aktach: latem 1967 roku i wiosną 1968 roku. Latem 1967 roku zimna wojna i zależność od Moskwy sprawiły, że władze komunistycznej Polski uznały się za stronę odległego konfliktu na Bliskim Wschodzie: potępiły Izrael, zerwały z nim stosunki dyplomatyczne i udzieliły pomocy krajom arabskim. Mieszkańcy Polski mieli pójść w ślady swych władców. W tym celu uruchomiono antyizraelską kampanię propagandową oraz mobilizowano masy do wyrażania wskazanych opinii i uczuć. Policja polityczna czujnie śledziła postawy odmienne i informowała przywódców, że polscy Żydzi sympatyzują z Izraelem. Za to przestępstwo napiętnował ich I sekretarz partii – faktyczna głowa państwa; wkrótce zaczęły spadać na nich pierwsze kary. Ci, którzy już wcześniej chcieli „zrobić porządek z Żydami”, poczuli, że właściwy moment się zbliżył.
