O tema principal deste livro é o impacto da evolução socioeconômica mundial na América Latina, sobretudo nos países do Cone Sul. O volume, de caráter multidisciplinar, reúne textos do “I Encontro Fronteiras Culturais: Brasil-Uruguai-Argentina”, realizado em 2000. A obra é dividida em duas partes: a primeira trata das relações entre culturas, identidades e globalização; a segunda analisa a aproximação cultural e econômica entre os povos latino-americanos.
