The proposed book is intended to provide a conceptual framework of ‘Organisational Flexibility and Competitiveness’ supported by research studies in various types of flexibilities exhibited by an organisation. The need for enterprise flexibility in an era of rapidly advancing technology, increasing competition, and globalization, is apparent. Flexibility can be thought of as an ability of the enterprise to quickly and efficiently respond to market changes and to bring new products and services quickly to the market place. Beyond this definition, a truly flexible enterprise should proactively change the market through its ability to create truly new and innovative products and services. The book applies the concept of flexibility to various functional areas: strategy and competitiveness, organization and HR management, information systems, finance and risk management, operations and supply chain management.
Today’s healthcare organizations must focus on a lot more than just the health of their clients. The infrastructure it takes to support clinical-care delivery continues to expand, with information technology being one of the most significant contributors to that growth. As companies have become more dependent on technology for their clinical, administrative, and financial functions, their IT departments and expenditures have had to scale quickly to keep up. However, as technology demands have increased, so have the options for reliable infrastructure for IT applications and data storage. The one that has taken center stage over the past few years is cloud computing. Healthcare researchers ...

This unique book provides a multidisciplinary review of current, climate-change research projects at universities around the globe, offering perspectives from all of the natural and social sciences. Numerous universities worldwide pursue state-of-the-art research on climate change, focussing on mitigation of its effects as well as human adaptation to it. However, the 2015 Paris 21st Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) (COP 21)” demonstrated that there is still much room for improvement in the role played by universities in international negotiations and decision-making on climate change. To date, few scientific meetings have provided multidisciplinary perspectives on climate change in which researchers across the natural and social sciences could come together to exchange research findings and discuss methods relating to climate change mitigation and adaption studies. As a result the published literature has also lacked a broad perspective. This book fills that gap and is of interest to all researchers and policy-makers concerned with global climate change regardless of their area of expertise.
Zero Hunger (SDG-2) and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG-12) of the United Nations are very crucial aspects for any economy in the world. In terms of Agricultural Sustainability and Food Security, the world should see to it that agriculture is sustainable enough to ensure food security for all its people. While nobody should be deprived of food for whatever reasons and at the same time nobody should use the agricultural resources (both inputs and outputs) in a manner harmful to the society at large. The use of any resources in terms of production and consumption, and vice versa, should take into account the carbon-footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. While the producers have a major role in the optimum use of the resources, the consumers, for whatever items, should take into account the responsible consumption practices. Since production and consumption are like two sides of a coin, complementary to each other, any change in one of the aspects will have its repercussions on the other one. So, it is a collective responsibility of everyone to ensure that things are practiced the way they are supposed to.
