A temática resíduos sólidos tem se tornado cada vez mais necessária e objeto de pesquisa com diferentes enfoques, tendo em vista que as soluções para sua gestão adequada perpassam por elementos técnicos, ambientais, sociais, comportamentais e econômicos. A Obra, Resíduos Sólidos: Um olhar plural sobre gestão, valorização e pesquisa, é uma coletânea de artigos produzidos, na sua maioria, por professores, alunos e servidores do Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo – Ifes, e também por professores e pesquisadores convidados da Universidade Federais do Espírito Santo e de Minas Gerais (Ufes e UFMG), da Fundação Ezequiel Dias (Funed – MG) e Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais (CEFET – MG), da Universidade de São Paulo (USP) e Centro Universitário Faesa, cujos trabalhos se alinham e contribuem para a geração de conhecimento sobre os resíduos sólidos no Brasil, em especial no Espírito Santo.
Women, Business and the Law 2020, the sixth edition in a series, analyzes laws and regulations affecting women's economic inclusion in 190 economies. The Women, Business and the Law Index, composed by eight indicators structured around women's interactions with the law as they begin, progress through and end their careers, aligns different areas of the law with the economic decisions women make at various stages of their lives. The indicators are: Mobility, Workplace, Pay, Marriage, Parenthood, Entrepreneurship, Assets, and Pension.The report updates all indicators as of September 1, 2019, and builds evidence around the linkages between legal gender equality and women's economic inclusion. By examining the economic decisions women make as they go through different stages of their working lives and the pace of reforms over the past 2 years, Women, Business and the Law makes an important contribution to research and policy discussions about the state of women's economic opportunities and empowerment. While celebrating the progress made, the data and analysis emphasize the work still to be done to ensure economic empowerment for all.

This synthesis summarizes the findings of the Global Natural Disaster Risk Hotspots project. The Hotspots project generated a global disaster risk assessment and a set of more localized or hazard-specific case studies. The synthesis draws primarily from the results of the global assessment. Full details on the data, methods and results of the global analysis can be found in volume one of Natural Disaster Hotspots: A Global Risk Analysis. The case studies are contained in volume two (forthcoming).
This work documents the findings of a research project which investigated the ways in which teachers and students used formative assessment to improve the teaching and learning of science in some New Zealand classrooms. It will be of interest to graduate students and researchers, as well as teacher educators, curriculum developers, and assessment specialists.
For many years, pressure was disregarded by biochemists. Teachers may be surrounded by feedback and involved in it every day, but the notion is poorly analysed and poorly used. Feedback for Learning provides an important collection of contributions to the highly topical theme of feedback to support learning. The book spans three major areas which affect all teachers: *young people's learning *teachers' learning *organisational learning. The authors critically examine the assumption that feedback necessarily has positive learning outcomes and describe models and practices which are more likely to result in effective learning at the individual, group and organisational level.
In sub-Saharan Africa women work relatively more in the informal sector than men. Many factors could explain this difference, including women’s lower education levels, legal barriers, social norms and demographic characteristics. Cross-country comparisons indicate strong associations between gender gaps and higher female informality. This paper uses microdata from Senegal to assess the probability of a worker being informal, and our main findings are: (i) in urban areas, being a woman increases this probability by 8.5 percent; (ii) education is usually more relevant for women; (iii) having kids reduces men’s probability of being informal but increases women’s.
