This paper discusses Mali’s Sixth Review Under the Extended Credit Facility Arrangement and Request for Modification of a Performance Criterion. Economic activity in Mali remains robust, aided both by higher public investment and accommodative monetary conditions. Inflation remains subdued, helped by favorable weather conditions and low global inflation. The external position has weakened, reflecting strong domestic demand growth, but is expected to strengthen in the near term as terms of trade improve and demand growth slows down. The near-term outlook remains positive but is subject to downside risks, stemming mainly from the fragile security conditions.
This textbook presents a systematic study of terrorism from the standpoint of economic analysis. Choosing the kind and level of measures to counter terror is, to a large extent, an economic decision, as counterterrorism (CT) measures and their side effects are costly. This text, contains theoretical models that illustrate the economic mechanisms of different types of CT measures. A vast array of empirical studies and regularities are also presented. Some chapters discuss in depth the empirical results in the literature as well as the underlying statistical/econometric methodologies that go beyond ordinary regression. General Appendix A provides an exposition of the concept of compensating su...
Almost fifty years have passed since the adoption of the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage (the UNESCO World Heritage Convention). With its 194 States Parties, it is the most widely ratified convention within the family of UNESCO treaties on the protection of cultural heritage. The success of this Convention and its almost universal acceptance by the international community of states is due to the great appeal that recognising certain properties as “world heritage” has for national governments. Since the publication of the first Commentary, new problems have arisen in the management of world heritage sites. It has become increasingly difficul...
Ivory Coast's dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Ghana in the final of the 2015 Asian Cup was the climax to a competition marked by superb goals, some controversial refereeing decisions and more than a few draws. This book includes a full summary of all the previous tournaments, then covers the whole of the qualification process for 2015 and then the glorious Finals tournament in detail. 160 pages of statistics include complete match records and post-match reactions from key individuals and the coaches.
This book and the accompanying Volume A (Aberdeen-Kirkcudbright) are composed from the three volumes together called Inquisitionum ad Capellam Domini Regis Retornatarum, quae in Publicis Archivis Scotiae Adhuc Servantur (Inquiries Retourned to the Chancery of our Lord the King which are Held in the Archives of Scotland) from 1544 to 1699). These records, informally known as Retours of Services of Heirs, represent possibly the greatest unused resource for Scottish genealogy and land history, but are not widely available and thus are largely unknown. Essentially, they are abbreviated abstracts of the records of inheritance, the continuity of heritable possession of land and certain associated rights and responsibilities. The original Retours themselves are often long and complicated, and mostly in Latin, but they were indexed and abbreviated into the form presented here. The Retours can be searched by County, then by surname and placename. With additional material and a Latin glossary by Dr. Bruce Durie

Forty years ago, when PLANT AND SOIL first appeared, Europe was still recovering from the devastating effects of World War II. During the war years, work in many centres of agricultural research had come to a virtual standstill. Buildings and equipment were destroyed, scientists were often forced to terminate their research and teaching activities and funds allocated to such work were diverted to other, at that time, more pressing needs. During the first post-war years reconstruction was undertaken with great zeal and in that light the founding of the new journal PLANT AND SOIL must be viewed. In the pre-war period most agricultural science journals were still primarily national ones and con...
