This anthology aims to provide the foreign reader with a number of significant samples of the works of a number of Romanian science fiction authors, predominantly dating from the last 25 years, which have produced some of Romania's best science fiction. It contains some of the shorter works of established authors who still possess considerable creative potential at no more than 60 years of age at the time the selection was made. Some - Liviu Radu, Cristian Tudor Popescu, Dănuț Ungureanu, Sebastian A. Corn, Michael Hăulică and Florin Pîtea among others - are acknowledged masters of the genre - not only among the communit of science fiction authors, but also literary critics as a whole, members of the Writers' Union of Romania and other authorities in the field. These are accompanied by the works of a number of young authors, who in recent years have published convincing, original material and who, in effect, represent a new generation of Romanian science fiction writers.
