The Purple Palace & other Poems is the debut Poetry collection by Artist Shayna Klee. The semi-autobiographical book is divided into two parts and takes place between two countries; Part I, "is a cloud a living thing?", takes place during the Author's tumultueuse teen years with tropical Florida as a backdrop. Part II, "Inside my Shell", explores themes of transformation as the Author creates a new life for herself in Paris, France. The poems in this collection explore the surreal rollercoaster of youth, the performance of identity, being an outsider and the tension between romantic idealism and the dystopic world in which the author finds herself. Her approach to her work as a visual artist is mirrored in her poetry style, which is accompanied by all original illustrations by the Author.

'This riveting behind-the-scenes story of the clothes on our backs is a must-read for clotheshorses everywhere' Harper's Bazaar 'Extraordinary . . . fascinating . . . a wonderful way into history, quite often through the voices of people who don't have a say in history' Cerys Matthews Linen, Cotton, Silk, Synthetics, Wool: through the stories of these five fabrics, Sofi Thanhauser illuminates the world we inhabit in a startling new way, travelling from China to Cumbria to reveal the craft, labour and industry that create the clothes we wear. From the women who transformed stalks of flax into linen to clothe their families in nineteenth century New England to those who earn their dowries in the cotton-spinning factories of South India today, this book traces the origins of garment-making through time and around the world. Exploring the social, economic and environmental impact of our most personal possessions, Worn looks beyond care labels to show how clothes reveal the truth about what we really care about. 'A must-read . . . combines remarkable research with heartfelt care' Clare Hunter

The stunning variety of writing in this anthology addresses the city of Paris in all its complexity, while challenging the mythology of expatriate Parisian literature. Strangers in Paris contains entries as diverse and disparate as an excerpt from John Berger's novel, Here is Where We Meet; Antonia Alexandra Klimenko's take on a Van Gogh painting; a tongue-in-cheek take on the nineteenth-century novel by Helen Cusack O'Keeffe; a trio of poems by Jorie Graham; Canadian writer Lisa Pasold's story of a forced extended stay in Paris; and an interview with the celebrated American poet Alice Notley. More than anything, this volume is a landmark, a notice that begs and entices readers to explore the current English-language authorship developing in and about Paris.

Your Head is a Houseboat

Your Head is a Houseboat is a uniquely hilarious guide to what goes on in your brain, from illustration sensation Campbell Walker aka Struthless. The only truth we really know is that we're going to spend the rest of our lives in our own houseboat (our head) so it makes sense to make that houseboat as good as possible. The houseboat needs cleaning and maintenance, and it shouldn't be weighed down by junk (our own thoughts and other people's opinions). There's a bunch of bosses with different ideas about where you should be heading in the ocean of life, and a zoo of animalistic desires below the deck who are really steering. But it's your houseboat, so it's probably time for you to cast away ...
