Since 1978 when it embarked on sweeping agricultural and industrial reforms, China's economic growth has been remarkable. Its success in transforming itself within just three decades from a very poor low-income country to a successful middle-income country is unparalleled. During this period, however, and in contrast to the first 30 years of the People's Republic, progress in the health sector has been disappointing. For example, during the period 1980-2007, China increased its income per head as a percentage of the OECD average from 3 percent to 15 per cent, but infant mortality fell no faste.
The book starts from the existed problems in fault analysis of the lumped-parameter circuit model. It firstly introduces the basic electromagnetic phenomenon, uniform transmission line guided electromagnetic waves, multi-conductor system guided electromagnetic waves, fault generated travelling waves; then it introduces series of the traveling waves based protections, which includes principle, technology and application in practical power grid; it also discusses the travelling waves based fault location and the travelling waves based fault feeder selector in China. It systemically reveals the essential features of the fault traveling wave and concludes the analytical solutions of the transient fault traveling waves and the modulus maxima representation of the dyadic wavelet transform of fault traveling waves. Finally, the book analyzes the acquisition of traveling waves and the sensor’s characteristics. A unique fault travelling wave test device has been invented based on the theories of the book and will be applied in real systems.
Geothermal energy is the thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth's core, mantle, and crust. Geothermal technologies are used to generate electricity and to heat and cool buildings. To develop accurate models for heat and mass transfer applications involving fluid flow in geothermal applications or reservoir engineering and petroleum industries, a basic knowledge of the rheological and transport properties of the materials involved (drilling fluid, rock properties, etc.)—especially in high-temperature and high-pressure environments—are needed. This Special Issue considers all aspects of fluid flow and heat transfer in geothermal applications, including the ground heat exchanger, conduction and convection in porous media. The emphasis here is on mathematical and computational aspects of fluid flow in conventional and unconventional reservoirs, geothermal engineering, fluid flow, and heat transfer in drilling engineering and enhanced oil recovery (hydraulic fracturing, CO2 injection, etc.) applications.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies enable manufacturing systems to sense the environment, adapt to external needs, and extract process knowledge, including business models such as intelligent production, networked collaboration, and extended service models. The 1992 creation of the National HIV/AIDS Program was a fundamental step for Argentina to reach the second lowest burden of HIV/AIDS in South America. From 2000 to 2010, Argentina further reduced the already low HIV/AIDS incidence of 15.9 per 100,000 by 25 percent and reduced the burden by 21 percent.
