Der gleichnamige Katalog zur Ausstellung D.I.S.C.O. cool - chic - crazy des rock'n'popmuseums beleuchtet unterschiedliche Facetten des vielfältigen und seit rund 70 Jahren existierenden Phänomens Disco, das seine weltweite Hochphase mit dem entsprechenden Sound in den 1970er-Jahren hatte. Informieren einige der versammelten Beiträge über nahe liegende Aspekte wie den spezifischen Discosound, die sich wandelnde Funktion des DJs und die Entwicklung des Tanzgeschehens, widmen andere sich eher selten beleuchteten. Dazu zählen u.a. die während der Hochphase getragene Mode, die popkulturellen Bedeutungen von Disco, das dahinterliegende Geschäftsmodell und die historischen Vorläufer der Diskothekeninnenarchitektur.
