This book presents the main drivers of benthic structure and processes in estuaries from the 8,000 km-Brazilian coast, assesses the influence of natural and human disturbance, and discusses their ecological importance and management needs. Estuaries are unique coastal ecosystems often with low biodiversity that sustain and provide essential ecological services to mankind. These ecosystems include a variety of habitats with their own sediment and fauna dynamics, all of them globally altered or threatened by human activities. Mangroves, saltmarshes, tidal flats and other confined estuarine systems are under increasing stress by overfishing and other human activities leading to habitat and species loss. Combined changes in estuarine hydromorphology and in climate pose severe threats to estuarine ecosystems at a global scale.

PLEA is a network of individuals sharing expertise in the arts, sciences, planning and design of the built environment. It serves as an international, interdisciplinary forum to promote discourse on environmental quality in architecture and planning. This 17th PLEA international conference addresses sustainable design with respect to architecture, city and environment at the turn of the millennium. The central aim of the conference is to explore the interrelationships and integration of architecture, city and environment. This two-volume set LNCS 12184 and 12185 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Thematic Area on Human Interface and the Management of Information, HIMI 2020, held as part of HCI International 2020 in Copenhagen, Denmark.* HCII 2020 received a total of 6326 submissions, of which 1439 papers and 238 posters were accepted for publication after a careful reviewing process. The 72 papers presented in the two volumes were organized in the following topical sections: Part I: information presentation and visualization; service design and management; and information in VR and AR. Na contemporaneidade é preciso continuar a discussão sobre o suporte direto à docência, refletindo sobre quais aspectos podemos tratar para fortalecer a coordenação pedagógica, bem como os processos de formação permanente e em serviço das(os) trabalhadoras(es) em educação, além do avanço no processo de ensino aprendizagem das(os) nossas(os) alunas(os). No âmbito da organização desse livro, um dos objetivos foi, e é, valorizar as vozes daquelas(es) que atuam na coordenação pedagógica e muito contribuem para o dia a dia da educação no estado da Bahia, e por que não dizer, em nosso país. Essas vozes estão expressas por intermédio desses textos que já não são mais nossos, e sim, de todo leitor e leitora que vier dialogar junto conosco.
